Which Lure for Which Fish? The Big Vidra Guide

The right lure often decides between success and a blank day. In this guide we show you which handmade Vidra lure suits which predator – from pike and zander to perch and trout.

Lures for pike

Pike love big, eye-catching prey. Larger models with a strong action and vibration are the first choice here. The Apex 12 Jointed (12 cm) is a real pike magnet, as are the Nautilus Jointed and the Perpetual. Work them with spin-stops and short twitches to trigger strikes.

Lures for zander (pikeperch)

Zander often hold deep along edges, in rivers and reservoirs. The Nautilus Deep Runner reaches around 3 m and runs stable in the current. For long casts from the bank the compact, heavy Bombhead is ideal. A slow retrieve near the bottom brings the most bites.

Lures for perch

Perch like to hunt small baitfish. Compact models such as the Atomic Chub (sizes 1–3) and Agility with a lively wobble are perfect – also for ultralight fishing on clear lakes and rivers.

Lures for trout

On trout streams and mountain lakes, small, shallow-running lures score. The Atomic Chub 1 and the Agility convincingly imitate small fish and insects.

Lures for chub, asp & topwater

For surface hunters our topwater lures deliver spectacular attacks: the Frog over weed and lily pads, and the Locust (grasshopper) for chub, asp and perch.

The right size & running depth

As a rule of thumb: big lure = big fish. Note the stated running depth of each model and match it to the water. All Vidra lures are handmade, from ABS with a full through-wire and 100% hard-balanced – for a stable, fish-catching action.
